A must read for nutritionists/dietitians beginning a practice!

As a nutritionist with a part-time private practice, I can certainly relate to many of Amy's stories navigating her first year in practice - from deciding who to partner with to creating various offerings and programs. Amy's candid account of this process certainly would have been nice to read when I was starting out, but is equally as helpful now! This isn't a "how to" or "step by step" formula for creating a successful practice, although it does offer practical advice on topics such as money, charting and insurance reimbursement. This book is truly about a heart-centered and intuitive approach to creating the life you love and defining success on your own terms.

As someone who has been thinking about striking out on my own, this book makes the process seem not so intimidating and unreachable. In our schooling experience and internships, there were no opportunities to learn about private practice and the details involved.

This book provides practical advice from someone who has already been there and her experiences provide great insight into that world.

Information is presented in an clear, easy-to-read format and it answered some questions I've had. The friendly tone of the text makes it very enjoyable to read. You don't feel like you're being lectured, rather, it's like a friend talking to you.

I definitely suggest anyone who is interested in private practice to get it.

Dietetic education programs simply don't teach the entrepreneurial skills required to launch a business. In her book, Amy provides this information with an in-depth account of her first year in business. Thrilling Fae Story -Impossible to Put Down!

I absolutely loved the Underground Trilogy by Anna Kyss. It's a series about the fae and could be viewed as a type of origins story for the vampire myth. In a nutshell, the story involves an American student traveling abroad in London who meets twin brothers who were raised apart, one with each parent. One brother is considered light and the other dark and they must join forces if they are to cure the fae of the illness plaguing them for centuries.

Meghan Lewis did an outstanding job narrating all three audiobooks and they were impossible to put down! She really brings all of the characters to life giving each one their own distinct voice, both male and female. She also has a rhythm to her reading that is melodious, giving it a fairytale quality. In summary, Anna Kyss and Meghan Lewis together are the perfect pairing for hours of thoroughly enjoyable entertainment.

One of my favorite fantasy series. I found this series by being asked to review the first book's audio (which is a must listen if you like audio) the author does an amazing job of creating this world of fantasy right alongside the real world. If you are a fan of fantasy this is a great series for you. I love this series so much I keep it on my IPhone's kindle app so I can reread whenever the mood strikes me

Deep, detailed, and definitely worth owning + exploring

Having worked closely with Shakti both as a student and a client since 2010, I can say this workbook is a beautiful conglomeration of some of her most inspiring teachings that includes personal shares from Shakti as well as other of her real life students, clients, and colleagues. In this way, the initiation that the book takes you through feels like a communal experience -- that the Circle of All Women is holding your hand as you journey and journal your way into and through the layers of self-judgment, limitation, and recrimination about sexuality that may have previously characterized your experiences. If you have ever wanted to get beyond the limitations of the sexual conditioning you grew up with and arrive at a place of intimate connection with your body, your mind, your emotions, and beyond, this book definitely shows the way. I found it to be written in an encouraging tone, with enough practicality for my left (Masculine) brain and enough spirituality & creative exercises for my right (Feminine) brain. I'm so enchanted by this book that I'm making it required reading for my own students and clients.

a complete course guide for your circle of women

My friend showed me this book with such enthusiasm that I bought a copy for myself. I skimmed through, seeing the deep value of it. It is written as a course guide so that we women can facilitate circles using the book as the curriculum (or solo,too). Since we are living in the shadow of the Patriarchy, women's natural sexuality has been altered, shut down, pinched, stunted, etc.... The sacred link has been severed. Beginning with learning to love your body and become sensitive to the energies flowing through it, practicing with this book will help reunite a woman with her natural sacred sexuality. My friend and I now have a Shakti Circle formed and we are using the book to guide our studies and practices. We both have had many years of studying with Tantra teachers and their books. What makes this one really stand out is how it is written with such sensitivity and respect as well as being in the format for facilitating a circle. Thank you, Shakti Malan for giving us just what we needed!

About the Author
Joanna Bourke is a Professor of History at Birkbeck, University of London and an active contributor to radio, journalism, and television. She is author of several books, including Rape: Sex, Violence, History and Fear: A Cultural History, which was shortlisted for Mind Book of the Year in 2006. She lives in London.

All animals are equal

Inspired by a pseudonymously written letter asking, "Are women animals?" Bourke, in this is a long, scholarly book proceeded to examine what it means to be a human. The exercise was conducted from various angles and diverse perspectives. It is a rich source of literary examples, starting with Franz Kafka's talking ape "Red Peter" to Derrida's cat that defies categorisation by simply existing, and, Levina's dog, "Bobby" that patently does not distinguish humans into the categories that the Nazis had.

The book, however, rambled along interspersing Human Rights, Darwinian revolution, animal rights, vegetarianism, cannibalism, and various other interesting aspects that distinguish animals from humans and those that make no distinction. The ultimate point being that in spite of clear and ostensible differences, it would be morally wrong to think that we can justifiably treat our fellow men, women, and non-human animals in any way that we would not treat ourselves. In the course of which serious questions are raised, for example, "Do animals have rights?" Questions were also raised about bioethical matters such as whether it is right to have cosmetic surgery, using animal parts for transplantation into humans, using drugs to counter the aging process. The questions cannot be answered fully in most specialist books, so they tended to fall a little flat because Bourke had attempted to do too much with the book.

If the reader is patient he may wish to add another star or two. If he is not, he might subtract one or two stars. This is indeed a fascinating, thought-provoking book that requires determination for one to come to grips with it; and more importantly, to pursue the answers to many of the questions Bourke raised. It has many useful materials but lacks a coherent structure to put them all together. I gave it three stars because I (subjectively) am not fond of the sprawling nature of the discussions, and further, I would reserve judgment on some of the matters that Bourke passed judgment on. For example, "Men and women who undertook rejuvenation treatments are, literally, selling their souls and debasing their bodies in exchange for eternal - or at least extended - life." p. 349.
