Gedanken, Gef�hle, Ereignisse und Verhalten werden t�glich oder zumindest regelm��ig schriftlich fixiert, so „dass dem Tagebuchschreiber die Zeit als Element bewusst wird.“ Das allt�gliche Geschehen bildet den notwendigen Bezugsrahmen f�r die Auseinandersetzung des Individuums mit sich selbst und seiner Umgebung und steht im Mittelpunkt der meisten Tageb�cher. Sie geh�ren eindeutig zu den autobiographischen Gattungen und sind als „Figurationen von Zeiterfahrung“2 zu verstehen. Ein Tagebuch kann neben der Funktion der Ich-Analyse auch eine Funktion als Chronik seiner Zeit erf�llen. Obwohl Tageb�cher so unterschiedlich sind, wie die Menschen, die sie schreiben, erweist sich die Zeit, in der sie verfasst wurden, als eine ausschlaggebende Grundlage.
Gegenstand der Untersuchung dieser Arbeit sind einige Tageb�cher aus der Holocaustzeit als schriftliche Dokumente und historische Hinterlassenschaft f�r die heutige Erinnerungsliteratur. Das sind einerseits zwei „Klassiker“ - die Tageb�cher von Anne Frank und Viktor Klemperer und andererseits zwei andere, relativ unbekannte Tageb�cher – von Leon Guz und Etty Hillesum.
